This Spring break, we saw our great grandma (92) on March 27th, 2024 🥰
Last time I visited her place was 10 years ago on March 22nd, 2014. If you remember, we cooked “Ikanago no Kugini” together (my favorite local dish which she used to send us every year). Now Ikanago is too pricey and people don’t cook it like before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NyDB6OR-ao
I cried and missed her so much like before. Kids were like why? So I asked them don’t you miss her? Then my son said it was my first time seeing her, so I have no idea. Exactly 😅 Well, we will definitely see her again 🌸
We stayed at Ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) in Akashi. You can enjoy Kaiseki cuisine (traditional Japanese multi-course meal) and soak in Onsen (hot spring) large baths. We had a cozy time 🥰

Maiko park is a great place to view Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world’s longest suspension bridge✨
Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is the world’s longest suspension bridge opened in 1998. 3,911 meter-long bridge links Kobe City and Awaji Island, as part of the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway. The other name, Pearl Bridge. It is Illuminated by over 1,600 lights that looks like a series of pearls straddling the strait. You can climb to the top of the towers. You can’t walk on the bridge on a normal day (which I was expecting. lol) 😝 You can see Awaji Island in distance 👍🏻 People were fishing, that’s what kids are talking about in the video 🎣 The Bridge (Maiko Marine Promenade) is located a short walk from Maiko Station on the JR Sanyo Line 🚃 Please stop by if you get a chance!

Japan Standard Time Meridian 🌐
“The International Meridian Conference held in 1884 set the meridian that passes through the Greenwich astronomical observatory as the standard for longitude and determined that each country would use a time system that had a one-hour time difference at each 15° longitude interval. Japan also accepted this decision and set the time of 135° east longitude as Japan Standard Time in 1886. This system was put into practice from January 1, 1888.”

Akashi Castle 明石城 🏯 Step outside the JR Akashi Station and you will immediately see the moat and castle ruins. Nice photo spot ✨
