I recently bought this from an online Japanese grocery store, having no idea what it is. It is refrigerated, and can’t live in the pantry, which makes me suspect I might have to cook it?

You can eat fish sausage without heating it, or you can cook it before eating. If you don’t heat it, you can slice it and add it to a salad or put it in a sandwich.

You can eat them without cooking! I used to eat them with mayonnaise and a bit of chili freaks as a snack. You can also cook them of course, like chop them up and cook with veggies and rice for fried rice or slice them up and boil with something like lettuce and garlic for egg drop soup.
