I’d recommend looking for the more hidden shrines they often are more beautiful then the tourist places.
Watch the abroad in Japan video on YouTube called “traveling to all stops on the Tokyo train” or something similar.
That video has amazing spots that are more quiet and locals actually visit .
Most of the tourist places offer marked up items and food, if you can speak to a local about places they would recommend, your experience is increased Tenfold.
Alternatively, search up the type of restaurant you want (sushi ect) in Japanese instead of english, the search results will be aimed at locals if written in Japanese.
