It’s the end of the workday on Friday, and I’ve made my way to Minami-Gyotoku Station in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, just next to Tokyo. Ichikawa City has a significant number of residents who commute to Tokyo’s 23 wards, with a commuting rate of approximately 47%, making it quite a popular area for “Chiba Tokyoites.”
The Tokyo Metro Tozai Line station here opened slightly later than the others. The Tozai Line is known for its high congestion rate, but it also offers excellent access to the city center, resulting in a high volume of passengers. Consequently, the area around the station is well-developed and bustling.
