after spending an incredible week in Sri Lanka with friends we have made it to Country number 21 Japan to kick off our time here we’re starting in one of our favorite cities Asaka we’re going to enjoy some of our favorite dishes and try some new ones of course as well as explore the famous D Bor and nipon bashy areas welcome to Japan guys is there a more iconic place to start this video than outside of 7eleven probably well we’re in Asaka we’re here for about 8 days we’re super excited we’re starting the day here in the D Bor area but we have to pick up some breakfast first and guys we are loving 7-Eleven you don’t know Japan is very known for the 7-Eleven and all the fun things they have inside I just got this smoothie you buy it as like a cup of frozen fruit and they have a machine and you put it in the machine and it makes you smoothie for you it’s amazing and we also just picked up some pastries as well for Brey you’ll probably be seeing us go to 7-Eleven a lot because it’s just so fun it’s such a novelty for us we have 7-Eleven in Australia but they’re kind of crap to be honest like they don’t have stuff like this we’re just going to go out and explore today go through some vintage stores go through some like cheap 390 Yen stores and just have a browse for our first like proper day out in aaka our first stop is at Don Cy I don’t know if I’m saying that right I’m sorry if I’m not it’s your typical tourist spot it has six levels of just anything and everything you want last time we were in Japan we made it our mission to collect as many Kit Kat flavors as we could we actually got quite a few right and then we just didn’t end up eating them we ended up gifting them all but these look like such nice gift now we’ve only been in Japan for a little over a day and we’ve already found chocolate from the supermarket that we really like and they have’t but we’re going to save it for later because we’re going to have a big day out today I think it’ll melt if we buy it now I definitely need this I am notorious sleeping with my mouth open on the plane might need it got the cutest little cat design behind us and it’s actually quite familiar to us we saw this design in Vietnam when we found that Ceramics place in Hanoi I think they might have copied this design but it’s so cute cats has hamburgers and shrimp and sharks where do they come up with this stuff there are so many of these kind of like half indoor half outdoor shopping mall strip type things here in oaka we really appreciated that yesterday cuz it was raining on and off but we were protected by the ceilings and even today it’s quite warm the sun is out I’m feeling kind of a little bit protected in here unfortunately I do not have footage of this but this morning stay said today is your day we’ll do whatever you want and yet here we are somehow I find myself in another Pokémon store looking for Pokémon cards am I the best girlfriend of the world so one of the shops we’ve come across in Japan that we’re obsessed with is called bookof it’s like a secondhand store so they have a whole bunch of secondhand stuff I love it personally because of the Retro games and Pokémon and stuff like that but they have everything in these stores [Music] check out our previous video at Fantasy Springs okay we are in nipon Bashi which is the coolest area in Osaka in my opinion we’ve heard of akih harra In Tokyo which is like the electronics gaming District this is like Asaka version of that you can’t walk 20 m without coming across a card shop it is so cool it is so much fun in my opinion I think Rush is coming around but it’s just such a cool area if you are into gaming or training cards of any sort this is the area to come and Hunt cuz there’s so many stores plus if you look there are sirugia specialty stores everywhere as well and they’re like a secondhand store chain kind of like the bookof we stepped into earlier and they have a whole bunch of retro games and just everything so they’re worth checking out as [Music] well okay after literally hours of Pokémon card hunting we somewhere for dinner yeah it’s dinner time that’s how long we’ve been Pokémon cat hunting for we’re going to go somewhere that we love and we highly recommend it’s annoying to have some of the best cats in curry in Japan but it is a chain it’s kind of like Japanese fast food but a lot of people say it’s some of the best katsu Cari but also a lot of people frown upon us going all the way to Japan and going to Coco ichib okay I picked up some chicken cutlet katsuk Cari added some cheese rash has pretty much the same thing but the vegetarian [Music] $9 so Ros just waited in a ridiculously long line to get this whole cheesecake I was saying to rash I love that they only sell the whole cake like you can’t just buy a slice it’s like whole cake or nothing but at least we’re even now cuz I only spent $9 on Pokémon cards so I’m the CFO go for launch so I get to dip into like secret funds because I’ve got you know the experience to manage money now we’re going to try this cake it’s so warm these cakes I’ve seen definitely on like Tik Tok and Instagram and stuff before they’re very famous every time we b class as a massive line so we just felt like we had to do it yeah fish on the top extremely bouncy oh you don’t look it’s like just nowhere near as rich as I thought it would be it’s not super sweet I like it I don’t know if you’re going to like it it’s quite eggy is it raisins on the bat yes it’s just really eggy I don’t hate it but I I don’t love it either I don’t know very eggy yeah it’s really eggy [Music] I’m feeling good morning guys welcome to another day here in Asaka it’s actually not morning it’s suntime but we’ve come out for some lunch and we thought we’d do something a little bit cool and unique and we’re actually going to fry our own skewers so apparently this place has like all different vegetables and meats and fun things so we got we check it out and cook our own lunch why not okay so we’re in we’re at our table with our fryer 1,800 Yen per person for all you can eat you get 70 minutes which is pretty good and I think there’s like 30 different types of skewers mixed of like veggies meats and some other random ones and we’ve got instructions they’ve given us which have English instructions which is good on how to do it so we got to go get some like batter panko crumbs I’m pretty excited I’ve never done anything like this before I think it’s such a like cool lunch idea very unique [Music] yeah these are looking pretty good for a first go you know how like when you’re making pancakes first Pancake always sucks well turns out when you’re frying things the first fry doesn’t suck crisp Perfection I’m going to try the sweet potato with the sweet sauce that sauce is really nice I think the potato could have been in every a bit longer would definitely recommend coming with somebody because when the food falls off your skewer you have to work together to get it back out if you guys have been following us for a while you know that we don’t often go and eat out cuz we are on a strict budget but shout out to Reon rson kindly donated money for us to go and get a meal because he loves to watch us try different foods and we love to try them so thank you very much Reon this one is for you and it’s going really well so far Okay so we’ve tried the food that we fried and now we’re going to try some of the other stuff like the noodles and the curry there’s a high probability that this camera is about to fall but like the video for this angle they tastes kind of fishy which frightens me a bit I don’t think I can finish them not my favorite much prefer all the fried Stu and to be fair I think that’s what this place is known for so if you’re coming here definitely take advantage of the food that you fry yourself I prefer the fries Stu and I think the whole kind of experience of frying your own food I think is called kushage probably saying that wrong and I’m not sure that it’s right but I’m trying but I think it’s time that we have some dessert now now this stuff not going to deep fry but they have like hondu fountains there a chocolate one I think there was like a marcha one and this white one which I’m hoping is vanilla but I’m not sure and then there’s like mini Donuts marshmallows and some other stuff to dip in as well I’m pretty excited we didn’t know this was going to be here so this is like an added bonus the chocolate’s pretty rich and to top it all off you get a free milk flavored soft surf ice cream that place was so good for lunch if you’re wanting to find it it’s in this kind of shopping center called nber Parks you’ll find it if you get it out of nber station eventually there’ll be signs that lead you to it but it’s on a floor with all these different restaurants but super good highly recommend obviously all you can eat skewers there’s a dessert area as well soft serve and for a little bit extra you can get all you can drink drinks as well so 300 Yen for non-alcoholic and then I can’t remember what it was for alcoholic but that’s a really good lunch [Music] we’ve now come to shinsekai which is a really vibrant colorful area in Asaka if you’ve heard of shinai chances are you’ve seen pictures of lanterns lit up and a very recognizable big puffer fish Lantern I standing in front of where that puffer fish Lantern usually is you might be able to see the pole in the background the puffer fish is not there I don’t know where it is I don’t know what’s going on I’ll put a picture on the screen now though just in case you haven’t seen that it’s a really cool area I think it would be like a lot of places we visit even cooler at night with the lanterns lit up the neon signs lit up we looking at an arcade just in front of me and of course the tourist souvenir shops as [Music] well I’m currently in a lift going to the Pringles [Music] [Applause] store guys how cool is this beab would bue okay we’ve left at shinai that was super cool to W around and now we’re going to walk about 2 km back to d bore guys we’ve done so much walking here in Asaka I think we did 40 km in our first 4 days which is a lot and we feel it but we’re going to walk 2 km back to dton bore we’re actually really hungry so we picked up a bit of a snack to munch on on the way this is an ice cream I think they’re quite popular in Japan we’ve seen them on Tik Tok we have had them before they’re delicious it’s like a waffle ice cream sandwich with chocolate in the middle highly recommend obviously in Japan since time we had our first bowl of ramen and we have a massive bowl of ramen here I’m so excited that’s good but hot well that was definitely some of the best ramen we’ve ever had we’re not big noodle soup gals but that was really yum hit the spot if you are someone like like Ros doesn’t eat pork and I think most Ramen is pork if I’m not mistaken or beef but if you are looking for chicken ramen or vegetarian ramen obviously you can just Google but there are places that are Halal and they obviously won’t serve pork so that’s a great place to go if you do want eat chicken or even vegetarian highly recommend of course we had to make one final stop to see D and Bor at night because it is so cool it’s like Time Square here doesn’t actually feel like it’s dark or night time because there are so many lights it’s a dark sky the sky is black it is night time but we’re also had to take in the gaco man one more time because it’s just so iconic here in Asaka we just we love this city we both really love this city it’s going to be hard for some of the other cities we visit in Japan to beat it I have to say we’ve started very strong this is only part one of our three-part Osaka Series so if you haven’t already make sure you click subscribe so you don’t miss what we think are unskippable activities in Osaka as well as an original go for launch Osaka street food tour as for now YouTube thinks you’re going to like this video next stay is going to winner
