If I wanted to see a lot of Japan’s important & famous office buildings all at once… This time we drive around the Imperial Palace, Uchibori-dori (Inner moat road) ! The Imperial Palace is the residence of the Emperor of Japan and the Imperial Family. Address: 1-1 Chiyoda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo The "Chiyoda" originated from Edo Castle. 2nd set’s movie was taken on May 24, 2024. Driving in the afternoon sunshine. Drive trip with text talk. 14:21 PM May 24, 2024. Now start from Chidorigafuchi for Uchibori-dori of the Imperial Palace. In the stone wall on the left is the Chidorigafuchi War Cemetery. Enshrined here are the remains of the war. What you are passing now is the Chidorigafuchi Greenway. Chidorigafuchi is the name of the moat on the north-west side of the Imperial Palace. It is famous for its cherry blossoms throughout Japan. It is a great place to relax and watch the cherry blossoms in Spring. The Indian Embassy can be seen on the left. They can enjoy the blossoms every year! The trees in front are the grounds of Yasukuni Shrine. The shrine enshrines soldiers who died on the side of the gov’t and the Imperial Court. We are now on Uchibori dori. On the right is Nisho-Gakusha University. Soseki Natsume, whose name appears on the old 1,000-yen note, studied here. The Bancho area extends from here to the right. It is said to be Japan’s first exclusive residential area. It is a cosmopolitan area where the diplomatic missions of various countries are located. The corner on the left is today’s starting point. In the trees on the right is the British Embassy. The Imperial Garden Hanzomon Park is opened in 2023 on the site next to the Embassy. The building with vertical lines on the right is Tokyo MX, a local Tokyo TV station. Next is the radio station Tokyofm. (frequency: 80.0 MHz) And to the left is Hanzomon (hence the name of the Hanzomon line of Tokyo Metro). The grey block mass on the right is the Supreme Court. Architectural design by Shinichi Okada, who also designed the Metropolitan Police Dept.. This is the Miyake-zaka intersection. The name derives from the fact that Miyake Bizennokami’s mansion was here. The buildings in front of you are the Kasumigaseki gov’t offices of Japan. In the trees on the right is Japanese datum of leveling. The dark grey building in front of you is the Ministry of Land, Infra., and Transport. The white building with the round antenna building is the Metropolitan Police Dept.. Sakuradamon Gate can be seen momentarily on the left. The outside the Sakurada Gate Incident of the Edo period took place here. Tokyo Midtown Hibiya can be seen at the far right. The insurance company Dai-ichi Life Insurance can be seen for a moment. From here we enter the outer gardens of the Imperial Palace. The office buildings in the Marunouchi and Otemachi areas can be seen. The intersection we are passing is the Nijubashi (means Double bridge) intersection. The following companies and buildings will be introduced in succession! Mizuho Bank @ Mizuho Marunouchi Tower. Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation @ East Wing Rising Square. Nippon Life Insurance @ Marunouchi Garden Tower. Palace Hotel @ Palace Bldg.. Imperial Palace Runner on left. ENEOS @ Otemon Tower. On the left is Otemon Gate, after which Otemachi is named. Hato Bus (Sightseeing buses touring the city). Mitsubishi Estate @ Otemachi Park Building. MITSUI&Co. @ MITSUI&Co. Building The Nikkei newspaper @ Nikkei Building. Tokyo Fire Department Headquarters Building. Passing through the intersection in front of the Japan Meteorological Agency. Marubeni @ Marubeni Headquarters Building. Mainichi newspaper. Whew, finally a breather! Takebashi (Bamboo bridge) crossing on the left. The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo on the right. Then the National Archives of Japan. The original Japanese Constitution are stored here. On the left is the Daikancho entrance to the Metropolitan Expressway.
