so I went to Japan this time I traded in the neon lights of Tokyo for the Cool Harbor breezes of Yokohama think of it as Tokyo’s hipper less crowded cousin who’s really into vintage shopping and craft beer in 2024 Yokohama is the place to be trust me we’re talking noodles Gardens towers that make the Empire State Building look like a trash can and uh I think I saw a panda or maybe it was just a guy in a panda suit so pack your bags grab your sens of Adventure and let’s dive into Yokohama because this is going to be a wild ride all right first up the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse this is like if someone took a mall from the 1920s polished it up and filled it with artisanal cheeses and Indie bands seriously you’ve got these beautiful brick buildings right on the water and you can wander around for hours picking up souvenirs you definitely don’t need but suddenly can’t live without you know the usual tourist stuff handcarved Chopsticks vintage kimonos maybe a life-sized Godzilla figurine for a friend and the best part you can tell everyone back home you spent the day soaking up Japanese history just try not to mention the part where you bought a t-shirt that says aay Yokohama in broken English but seriously the Red Brick Warehouse is a great place to get a feel for yokohama’s Unique blend of old and new just watch out for the seagulls they’re ruthless I’m telling you next up on our Whirlwind tour of yoka AMA the cup noodles Museum now I know what you’re thinking a museum dedicated to instant Ramen sounds about as exciting as watching paint dry right wrong we’re talking walls lined with every flavor of cup noodles imaginable from the classic chicken to the more adventurous kimchi and cheese but the real highlight you get to design your own cup noodles flavor that’s right you can Unleash Your Inner culinary genius or mad scientist and create a Ramen Masterpiece that’s uniquely you I’m talking seaweed and bacon Curry and mango Wasabi and white chocolate chips the possibilities are endless don’t judge my culinary choices okay after you’ve crafted your culinary Masterpiece you can even take a stroll through the instant Ramen tunnel a mesmerizing display of every cup noodles package ever created so whether you’re a seasoned Ramen afficianado or just a curious traveler with a rumbling stomach the cup noodles museum is a must visit hold on to your chopsticks folks cuz we’re about to enter a world of sensory overload Yokohama Chinatown now I’ve been to China and let me tell you this place is pretty darn close except for you know the language barrier and the jet lag we’re talking bustling streets colorful temples and the aroma of a thousand delicious things cooking all at once seriously my nose has never been happier and the food don’t even get me started dumplings noodles peeking duck dim suum it’s a culinary adventure around every corner and if you’re looking for souvenirs this is the place to find them from silk scarves and Jade bracelets to Lucky cats and those little waving hand things you’re guaranteed to find the perfect gift for everyone back home or just for yourself no judgment here all right after all that excitement it’s time for a little peace and quiet at the sanken Garden this place is like stepping into a postcard or maybe a screen saver one of those really good screen savers with like waterfalls and stuff we’re talking traditional Japanese Gardens complete with Serene ponds graceful Bridges and those little bonsai trees that look like they’re straight out of a fairy tale it’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and just you know be one with nature or at least pretend to be while you’re secretly checking your phone for Instagram updates they’ve even got historical buildings scattered throughout the gardens because why not add a little history to your nature walk right just be prepared to dodge the occasional selfie stick hold hold on to your hats folks because we’re about to ascend to new heights at the Yokohama Marine Tower this iconic Landmark is basically a giant gleaming beacon letting the world know that Yokohama is open for business and also that it has a really really tall tower now I’m not usually one for Heights but the view from up here is breathtaking we’re talking panoramic vistas of the city the harbor even Mount Fuji on a clear day it’s enough to make you forget you’re standing on a platform hundreds of feet in the air almost and if you’re feeling really Advent venturous you can even take a walk on the sky Garden an outdoor observation deck that’s basically just a giant platform with a railing just don’t look down or do if you’re into that sort of thing okay Ramen lovers this one’s for you get ready to enter a world of slurp delights at the ramen Museum this place is like a theme park dedicated to everyone’s favorite noodle soup we’re talking bowls upon bowls of steaming hot Ramen from the classic shou and miso to the more adventurous tonkatsu and sucan it’s a culinary Journey Through the history and evolution of ramen and your taste buds are in for a wild ride but the ramen Museum isn’t just about eating Ramen although let’s be real that’s a big part of it you can also learn about the different types of ramen the history of its creation and even try your hand at making your own noodles and if you’re feeling really adventurous you can even try the mystery Ramen a rotating bowl of ramen with a secret flavor combination so there you have it folks the ramen Museum a must visit for any Ramen Enthusiast all right folks buckle up because we’re about to cross the Yokohama Bay Bridge this architectural Marvel is not just a bridge it’s an experience seriously it’s like driving through a postcard a really really long postcard I’m talking sweeping views of the harbor the city skyline and those giant cargo ships that make you feel like you’re in a Godzilla movie speaking of Godzilla I’m pretty sure this bridge has been in a few of those movies or maybe it was just a dream I had after eating too much Ramen but seriously the Yokohama Bay Bridge is more than just a way to get from point A to point B it’s a symbol of the city’s progress its connection to the world and its ability to build really really big things get ready for some good oldfashioned fun folks because we’re headed to Yokohama Cosmo world this amusement park is like a giant playground for kids and adults who are still kids at heart we’re talking roller coasters Ferris wheels carousels games prizes the works it’s enough to make you forget all about your adult responsibilities and just embrace your inner child just try not to eat too much cotton candy before getting on the spinning rides and the best part Cosmo world is located right on the waterfront so you can enjoy stunning views of the harbor and the City skyline while you’re screaming your head off on the roller coaster it’s the perfect combination of Thrills and scenery but Cosmo world isn’t just about adrenaline pumping rides they’ve also got plenty of family-friendly attractions like a giant Ferris wheel a Carousel and a haunted house that’s more funny than scary hold on to your hats and your stomachs because we’re about to ascend to the top of yokohama’s tallest building The Landmark Tower this architectural Marvel is like something out of a science fiction movie A gleaming Spire that pierces the heavens and offers unparalleled views of the city below now I’m not going to lie the elevator right up is not for the faint of heart these babies move at warp speed whisking you up to the 69th floor in a matter of seconds it’s like being shot out of a cannon but instead of Landing in a net you land in a luxurious observation deck with panoramic views of Yokohama and the view oh the view we’re talking 360° vistas of the city the harbor Mount Fuji you can even see the curvature of the Earth on a clear day it’s enough to make you feel like you’re on top of the [Music] world all right animal lovers get ready for a wild time at noyama zoo this place is like a little slice of the Wilderness right in the heart of Yokohama and by Wilderness I mean a really well-maintained zoo with adorable animals and helpful signs we’re talking lions tigers bears oh my elephants giraffes Penguins monkeys you name it they’ve probably got it it’s a Zoological adventure for all ages and it’s the perfect way to end our Yokohama adventure and the best part noyama zoo is incredibly well-designed with spacious enclosures that mimic the animals natural habitats you’ll feel like you’re on Safari except without the heat the bugs and the risk of getting eaten by a lion but noyama Zoo isn’t just about looking at animals they’ve also got educational exhibits interactive displays and even a petting zoo where you can get up close and personal with some furry or scaly friends well folks there you have it Yokohama a city that’s full of
