This is a walking Vlog of Japan’s seventh largest city. It’s popular for shopping also the birthplace of Kobe beef not too far away from Osaka, but a smaller version of it.
[Music] are welcome back this is Chase The Traveler again today I’m heading to Kobe now for those of you who might not know KOB is the birthplace of Kobe beef that world renown famous delicious succulent beef that everybody wants to take a bite of so I’m going to head down to the city and see exactly what it’s like now I have to let you guys know I’ve actually lived in Japan for decades and um so I know quite a bit about Japan I know what it was like before I’ve seen the changes and they’re pretty dramatic and little by little I’ll let you guys in on what I’ve seen over the years how it’s changed and what I think Japan is like now anyway uh hope you enjoy the oops forgot what I was going to say anyway hope you enjoy my content and uh see you soon outside of most big cities in Japan this is really what you’re going to find of course Tokyo Osaka Kobe that’s pretty developed but when you travel around Japan it’s pretty rural it’s made up of a lot of small little houses and of course apartment buildings but life is pretty quiet there’s no hustle and bustle there aren’t any bright lights there’s not a lot of commotion a lot of people it’s just a normal little town and right now we’re about maybe 30 to 40 minutes away from coob which is another city that really isn’t that big really isn’t that small either but it’s I would say a famous city in Japan so I’m really looking forward to showing you guys a little bit of the city so I’m finally in kobc I’m glad that this isn’t rush hour cuz it could have actually been a big mess during rush hour you can barely walk around here definitely don’t want to try and get on one of these planes at around 9:00 a.m. I me look at the other side it’s already getting crowded the good thing about it is that the weather’s pretty good it’s not too cold it’s not too hot so I think it’s going to be quite Pleasant today I actually used to work in that building right there that shiny one years ago on the second floor at an English conversation school it’s gone now but it was actually pretty it’s unfortunate because a while back there was a lot of English schools but they’ve little by little all disappeared I mean there are a few left but it’s not like what it used to be [Music] [Music] this is like one of the main squares in Kobe [Music] it’s not that big but on the weekends it gets pretty crowded and packed and you have a whole bunch of people out [Music] here that right there is the building where I used to work at [Music] this little street is pretty interesting it’s like one of your little commercial centers where you have a lot of little restaurants I mean you even have like the American brands too like KFC and Burger King [Music] in the past you used to have a lot of cars going up and down this street but I think they’ve like since banned them so there are no more cars I mean these little outside cafes also look good the thing about Japan is that everything is really nice and clean and the weather right now is good too so I wouldn’t actually even mind sitting here and having some coffee or even just playing walking around is fun [Applause] I mean this is coob this is the land of coob beef this is where I guess it started and Kobe beef is actually you know I mean you can call it Wu you can call it coob beef but this is the place that made it famous this is where it all started and I assume this is where you get the best cobette beef on the planet going to take a little detour here take a little side street actually you the side streets are actually the best place to get food cuz you don’t see that many foreigners over here and most of the time these touristy areas where you see a lot of foreigners the food really isn’t that good it’s not really what you’re going to want to eat as much but I’m not saying it’s not good I’m just saying that I just find it that these little streets right here or where you’re going to get the real authentic Japanese food you know I wouldn’t mind going in here but it’s always tough for me to sit down without a chair I mean this looks like a nice little romantic getaway I don’t think things have really opened up yet but it’s kind of early so you don’t see a lot of people out but that’s just the way I like it interesting I guess one of these little sticks are like a dollar a pop again everywhere you go in Japan there’s always the underground and HEI was not your biggest not your smallest so coob actually isn’t that big either in terms of like the underground if you compare it to like places like Osaka but it’s a little bit more high-end things are a little bit pricier not sure if the quality is any better though but a little price here as always you’re going to get everything from clothing but most of the time when you get clothing it’s mainly women’s stuff you’re going to have to struggle to find clothing for men here although you can find it but it’s not going to be easy this one’s actually pretty easy because you don’t have that many detours although you do but you spend like a couple days you’re not really going to get lost over here I think I’m going to take a left as soon no nope not a left a right as soon as I can and head up I want to check out the arcade now we’re at the arcade again you’re going to find this everywhere in Japan some are big some are small and it’s pretty much the same thing it’s all about shopping it’s whether you want to do it above ground below ground whether you want high-end stuff medium pric items etc etc etc I mean honestly I like it it’s a pretty interesting place I mean you don’t really see arcades like this anywhere else in the world I mean today’s Thursday it’s pretty crowded I mean on the weekends you definitely have way more people and this is like a bigger city so a lot of people from the surrounding suburbs actually come here to shop it’s definitely bigger than the last City I was in which is HEI definitely have way more train stations here way more places to shop and definitely a little bit more pricey now I wonder if I’m going to get Co bear beef I mean since I’m in Co and since this is where it started I definitely think maybe I should try it but it’s like way too pricey I mean but this is like a place where it all started but I haven’t seen any cows around here though they’re like nowhere to be seen this is your traditional Japanese style store I’m still in the arcade but like in a quieter section you don’t have as many young people here so I think this is more like for the adults I’m going to head over to Chinatown it’s a little bit close it’s not that far from what I can tell Chinatown now when I first came here I was under the impression that Chinatown was the same everywhere you go it’s definitely not true now comparing it to New York where I’m from it’s definitely a lot cleaner here but the food is way different I mean you’re going to find some similarities of course I mean even the names on the menu are going to look a little similar but it’s not going to taste the same I’m not saying it’s not good I’m just saying that it’s definitely not going to be what you’re it’s definitely not going to be like what you are used to and I mean I I for me I mean I love Chinese food I just don’t like Japanese Chinese food and one of the reasons I don’t like Japanese Chinese food is that there’s not enough stuff in it I mean in New York let’s say you order shrimp fried rice you’re not going to be able to count the shrimp that’s in your fried rice I mean it’s just like there’s a lot a lot of it in there in Japan you could literally count the shrimp in your fried rice that’s like really super annoying to me I mean it’s the same thing with beef fried rice I mean it’s like they give you like two or three pieces and you’re done it’s definitely not enough for me but yeah I mean you’re going to you’re going to get good food here um but it’s definitely not going to be like what you’re used to and the portions are definitely going to be way smaller than what you’re used to if you’re from the states but but it’ll look the same it’ll be similar to what you’ve seen or what you’ve eaten it’s just not going to be the exact same thing you know KOB is a really nice little city it’s definitely I would say a good place to live because you’re like about 20 minutes away from Osaka which is like a really big city where you have everything but you also have everything here too I mean anything you want you’re going to get it here whether it’s shopping whether it’s food whether it’s high-end stuff medium priced items to like cheap stuff you’re going to find it here I mean on this next street you have a lot of famous Brands I mean there’s Rolex Georgio Armani Emporio Armani Gucci and a little further down you’re going to have your Louis Vuitton so pretty much this is the type of city where you’re going to find what you want actually you even have Chanel right there also so if you’re into that kind of stuff it’s there Louis Vuitton Valencia it’s all here so pretty much you can find whatever you want you can find the restaurants that you want you can find the clothing that you want you can find your high-end stuff your low-end stuff I was about to cross the street but I just remember that Japanese people don’t like Crossing on a red light and I didn’t want anybody to look at me funny there we [Music] go yeah this this area right here is more for your super super expensive stuff I’m not going to go in cuz I’m not going to buy anything can’t afford it this area also has some nice cars at that nice Maserati Ferrari I think I’ll be picking one up next week kidding I will not be picking one up next week this area is more for like your trendy young shoppers years ago this place used to be packed but for some reason most of these stores right now are closed Ian I’m not sure what happened but this used to be the spot 10 15 years ago 20 years ago you like your trendy teenagers your cool [Music] people they all got their clothing from here hey guys do me a favor if you like my content please like And subscribe I would really appreciate it I know I just started but definitely going to improve [Music] [Music] [Music] anyway hope you guys liked my little tour of [Music] Kobe I think next week I’ll be going to a bigger place maybe Osaka maybe Kila I’m not sure yet and then eventually I’ll be heading down to America South America and different parts of Asia so please join me and again do me a favor like And subscribe thanks bye

HAHAHAHA….Another foreigner who thinks he is an expert on Japan.
BTW, Mr expert don't you know it's considered rude to use your phone and take videos on the train. That's right, you people and Indians are not concerned with manners here. I see it everyday here.
