Sendai is the capital of Miyagi Prefecture and the largest city in the western Tohoku region which is known for its untouched nature and poetic landscapes. Sendai itself is called Mori no Miyako, or the city of trees. It’s no wonder that Miyagi and its sister prefectures—Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate and Yamagata—have some of the best rural sakura (cherry blossom) viewing spots in Japan. – Quote from Gaijinpot
But it’s true! And I wanted to go on a walk today through Sendai showing off from East to West a journey to see cherry blossoms!
We’re going to take the subway and go to Yakushido Temple first, then walk to Tsutsujigaoka park, Then Nishi-Park, with a finale at Aoba Castle Ruins!
Hope you enjoy!

so when you think of Japan you typically think of things like trines which I’m at a temple right now and you also think of spring and in Spring what we have are cherry blossoms and so today I just wanted to show you a few locations in Sendai that you can go to one of them being yakido Temple which in springtime looks pretty nice so let’s walk around and check it out so right when you go through the Tory Gates which even just looking through here it’s so seen you’re greeted with just a bunch of cherry blossoms which I’m coming a little late so a lot of it’s already on the floor so sorry about that I was working a lot so I couldn’t really come but look Tada so nice still it’s still here majority of it’s like falling off cuz it was raining a lot too but yeah oh this one still has a lot wow so I just want to bring these like places up mostly because a lot of people when they think of Japan they only see Tokyo I don’t like Tokyo it’s too too many people and it’s way too expensive so living in Sendai is actually kind of nice I would prefer Osaka honestly but I’m in Sendai so time to show off the places in s there that you can go to one of them yaka Temple it’s really nice and then there’s also a few parks within the city center that you can go to as well and so with all these rocks here yako Temple is basically one of D’s old Temple shrines it’s kind of gone now not a lot is remaining but from the subway station it’s a 3 minute walk so it’s really easy to get to here and it’s just really nice you know and so I just wanted to show this place off first cuz I wanted to show off the you know the little known places in syai before I show you the more popular places cuz around in those places I don’t think I’ll be able to talk much cuz I’m a very shy person when it comes to like filming myself especially when I’m solo cuz my brother Mark isn’t here with me by the way shout out to him look at my new bag he bought me a new bag before he went back to America it’s a really good bag and then yeah basically this is a big park with a temple and lots of cherry blossoms hopefully you guys enjoyed this area right and then I’m going to go closer to the uh the actual Shrine itself and then we’ll say hello and then we’ll move on TOA Park next which you can take the train for all the locations but I’m going to walk it cuz I need to exercise so yeah [Music] it’s definitely a must visit it’s really close to the station less are known less people so it’s a good choice and now I’m going to walk toala Park so let’s go [Music] man just walk to each Park it’s noisy but you know I need the exercise but the good thing is with the temple and the two parks they’re like within walking distance from a station so it’s much easier to get to the problem is I’m obese I need to I need to exercise so this is a good opportunity to get that exercise so that’s what we’re doing and I’m also about to come up on what was it called yeah Rock stadium which is The sise Rock and Eagles baseball teams stadium so let’s see [Music] it I mean of course right now there’s no games going on so it’s closed but I can still walk around a little bit outside yeah it’s rocken stadium so this is where they have the games and the station to get here is back there so it’s really easy to get to and so now to get to local park from here it’s pretty simple we go through the gates and all we do is just walk straight this way that’s all we do we just walk straight so let’s do that oh we’re here that was like a 20-minute walk but there this ISO Park this is a good exercise like the video subscribe if you haven’t already uh I also have a few other cherry blossom videos you should you should watch those too they’re pretty nice [Music] we’re early enough that there’s not a lot of people here but we’re also too early that there’s no food so it’s a give and take right so but you know we’re going to go up to the main area hopefully there’s not a lot of people there cuz we’re at the bottom cuz this park is surprisingly big are ready to see my worst enemy stairs just a few more [Music] yesh there’s also like a skate park over here I’m tired after climbing those stairs it’s a skate [Music] [Music] park so this is the park when you come like so early it’s 7:30 in the morning there’s barely anybody here like not that many but you know there’s always food so the main attraction is a little bit further that way so let’s go let’s see the cherry blossoms and then we’re going to start our 1 hour walk to Nishi Park Nish Co and then maybe we’ll go to Ala Castle grounds cuz cuz I’m curious what that place looks like in Spring yeah they’re all closed I’m too early oh my God there’s a lot hold up I thought it was only this but then wow are you ready for the surprise of your life this is the main I thought that was the main no this is the main it’s all closed we’re here let’s check it out so this is where you would get your food and then you get a picnic mat and you sit out there to eat let’s see what the prices are like 4 to 600 Yen for some KAG Curry likea and chicken curry rice these prices aren’t that bad not bad and so here is the main area for cherry blossoms let’s make a circle around it oh there’s the Weeping cherries right there he’s taking a picture of his dog that was so cute Hani it’s so early and there’s already people setting up for picnics and relaxing out here there’s already people picnicking at 7:30 like oh my gosh yeah this is really nice that one’s [Music] big 30 years ago wow some old pictures wow that’s a throwback picture like look at them there’s so many people and now it’s a much bigger city so the reason why I came so early is just so I can actually talk to the camera without being super shy cuz I am still not a very confident man when it comes to talking into a camera I don’t like people looking at me which already happens no matter what I do here cuz you know I I look straight up like a foreigner just walking around the streets yeah this is this ISO Park is one of the more Scenic views probably more a lot more Trey blossoms than yakel Temple but you know that there’s also going to be a lot more people here compared to other locations all right and now it’s time for the 1H hour walk to nisho Nish Park let’s go oh I guess before we do the walk apparently there is a really really old tree here that is protected and you see they’re white so really nice tree I’m not ready for this walk it’s 1 hour [Music] it took a little longer than an hour but I think I made it I see cherry blossoms I’m tired but yeah I think we’re here I think that’s Nishi Park up ahead yay always look both ways before Crossing yeah here’s the subway station there’s a interesting looking sign yep we made it we’re at Nishi Park you know how I know for some reason and there’s a mercedesbenz next to the park yay we made it let’s go there’s so many more people things are starting to open up too cuz you know is now like 9 9:30 9ish oh no it’s almost 10:00 oh my God I walk slow but my God compared to Joka this place is much better look at that look at all the cherry blossoms it’s so nice when you’re tired and warn and you feel like you can’t go on I’ll be there to put one foot in front of the other when you’ve your way okay so let’s see how many steps I took so far and the answer 10,000 steps and I’m still not done we’re just at the Nishi Park might as well check out out the sandai castle grounds right might as well let’s [Music] go we’re almost there do you see it right over [Music] here of course there’s no Castle cuz s doesn’t have a castle but the grounds are still there so let’s [Music] go I forgot how much of a inclin it is to get up to Alba Castle or the castle site cuz there’s no Castle but the view is nice as always so we just came from right over there that’s Nishi Park so we just just crossed that bridge and went all the way up to all the way up to here just to see if there’s any cherry blossoms and guess what not much it’s like one tree one tree and then D masam has a tree so let’s go look at that there he is D masam with the cherry blossom tree in the back this is the main attraction of Sendai which is a statue you can still see some snow on the mountains in the back well that is nice Kim girl Tada here’s the shrine on top of the mountain when I say Mountain I’m talking about the Sendai Castle grounds which it costs money to go inside and I don’t got that kind of money on me right now so you only get to see the outside so voila happy all right let’s get some food no they’re doing construction you can’t see but look at the sign so that’s what it used to look like that’s what it used to look like that’s what it used to look like I’m going to I got food I’m going to go get it all right we got breakfast and lunch all in one so let’s see what we got so I got me a tendon which is basically fried it’s shrimp fish I forgot the name of these vegetables and me so soup and so hopefully you guys enjoyed our wonderful adventure to see all the cherry blossoms it was actually a lot of fun and really good exercise for me so I enjoyed it and so one thing thing that I want to tell you guys is I have a merch store now the link is right here so it’s a good way to help fund these kinds of Adventures cuz so far the only thing I spent was food money cuz I walked everywhere well actually no cuz I took the train to get to yakido station and then from yakido it was just a straight shot so that’s what I did but other than that thank you guys for watching this videos and if you click this video right here you can see a different cherry blossom video and right here if you click that you can subscribe to my channel so thank you guys for watching see you guys next time so goodbye I’ll pull it out of the
