We’re currently in Mishim a! This is where my family is from and where I spent most of my Summers growing up. It’s really good. Yeah, light, not too sweet.  I decided to make dinner for  my grandma and Cris that night

And so we went to the grocery store to pick out some of my favorite things “It looks yummy” “Itadakimasu” We were over here.  We’re here now. We’re just going to walk up  and then we’re gonna go to Mishima Taisha Time to read your mikuji. Let’s see. Ooh lots of writing.

I got the cat. Omg this is amazing! This is so cool. The deers are so pretty. That white  chicken is amazing, and beautiful. I know. Ok I got the toad. Ok, Kaeru.  And then you can keep this in your  wallet or your pocket or something.

We’re right by the deer. I used to come  here and feed them cabbage with my sister.  They’re still here. Onigiri time? Onigiri time.  And Cris’s first egg sando. Or I don’t know what you got. Oh yeah. You got something else. I got the ham and cucumber and

Teriyaki chicken and egg sando. What’s in your pocket?  Yeahhh, banana soy milk. Look at how yellow these leaves are turning.  This one’s yummy! You would think but it’s not soggy at all. Okasan! You know what that means?  No, what? Grandma? It means mom. I did this exact thing too. Omg she’s so cute.

With the chicken. I’m gonna get this.  Oi Ocha? It’s cold. Oi Ocha, oh yeah I know because it’s blue. No you have to tie it like this. How do you do that?  I guess you just do like a  little bit longer on this side.  You did it for me.

Ok so I always saw Mishima  as kida of like a shleepy little town  but we found an independent  book store called Yacht Books that opened up not too long ago and it  was so nice seeing local publishers. Alight, let’s go get some ramen. We also stopped by Young Ramen

Which is a local ramen shop. We talked to the owner and he   said his inspiration was shops  and restaurants in Portland.  We picked up a few things and  now we’re off to Shuzenji. I would say this is a really nice  stop right after the hustle of Tokyo.  There’s also a small bamboo forest.

And a lot of nice shrines.  I knew this trip I really wanted Cris to  experience hot springs and onsen towns  and we weren’t really sure if  we had the time in our schedule.  The last hotel we booked was the one in Shuzenji.  And it’s only 25 minutes  away by train from Mishima.

We just got some onsen manju! They have this black sesame one and then    I think this is green tea. I’m not sure. This is my favorite thing   to eat when I’m at onsen towns. And then yesterday from Mishima we got melon pan  from this place called melon queen in Mishima Hirokoji.

And their melon pan is really popular This is a strawberry scent, I mean   strawberry flavor. It smells so good.  I got strawberry and then I got plain melon pan. Let’s hope it’s still fresh.  It’s so warm. Ah man, I never want to be out of these clothes.

I’m in complete CHILL MODE right now Cris is in the bath and I’m gonna   take a bath after. But right now I’m   just having some bread and coffee. This place is giving a lot for the   price that we paid. Hotels near the

Town are a little bit more convenient. Cause here we’re on the mountain so we’re   away from all that. And it’s only like a 15-minute  bus ride but it still feels pretty deserted.  So if you come here you should definitely bring  an obento or some food. We had to go to the

Restaurant yesterday because we had no food and  I didn’t do enough research and I didn’t prepare   enough for the lack of food I guess. And you also need a reservation for   all the restaurants. So, don’t be like me.

But yeah I’m really happy that we got to  spend it here. I think one day is plenty. We’re gonna check out and  head to our next destination.  I’m sad. I loved this litle pit stop in Shizuoka but again,   we have so much to do so  we’re on to our next location.
