What path you have to take it’s basically like they’re making like a tower defense game and so everyone was just squished and like packed into these narrow Alleyways and corridors and and they didn’t want anybody in the middle of Shibuya scramble uh which is kind of counterintuitive I think because I

Thought the whole purpose of having these security guards is to make sure that something like Ewan doesn’t happen and that people are not trapped in narrow Alleyways and corridors uh but instead they they blocked off the most spacious area in the city and they forced everybody into the narrow

Corridors and back alleys which is a pretty amazing thought exercise into what what kind of logic went into this but uh thankfully nobody got hurt and uh I guess the message from the city resonated with the locals and uh there was mostly just other foreigners there mostly people on vacation I assume um

But yes thankfully nobody got hurt and people seem to be having a pretty good time despite there being no event um so yeah it all worked out but uh yeah it was an interesting New Year’s Eve same as usual I uh went home early and uh got to bed so I can do

Uh I was kind of skeptical about whether or not to even go to Shibuya even like an hour before I was thinking H it doesn’t look worth it based on the live cameras but uh I guess a lot of people just want to see what’s going on over

There but I’m pretty sure it was more exciting in other parts of the cities like in kabukicho they unfortunately don’t have a camera in the main area nearby kabukicho Tower probably on purpose because there’s all those like homeless kids there but from some of the live

Cameras I saw there was like a good amount of people there probably just as many as in Shibuya so I don’t know I need to go where the people want to see because obviously I’m showing you guys around Tokyo so uh maybe next year we will see and unless they actually have

An official event next year in Shibuya then I will be there again but uh yeah hey Michelle happy New Year Li said it seemed a bit bottlenecked from what I saw earlier yeah exactly it was kind of uh pretty bad like um near the the countdown time like 15

Minutes before they were like starting to stop people from going into the main um scramble Crossing area so they basically just stopped people from moving in Center guy and then they try were trying to redirect people into different Alleyways but everybody wanted to go to the scramble Crossing so it

Almost became like a crush situation but uh thankfully there weren’t a lot of people there and not like at least not enough to crush each other so um it turned out okay but you know if there were a lot of people it would have been bad but yes thankfully nothing happened um

So yeah and I I did see Warren you were in Yokohama which looked amazing I uh I saw your picture in the Discord Warren I saw that countdown on the ferris wheel that looked awesome and I honestly if I wasn’t doing live streaming I probably would have gone down there myself um but

Maybe that’s like something I could do I don’t know depends on what happens but maybe next year I don’t know it’s like I can only be in one place I uh one place at a time right so yeah but I I looked up other videos on YouTube there were

Some people who posted shorts of the countdown in Yokohama and it’s pretty awesome that you have fireworks down there that’s pretty rare because uh traditionally in Japan fireworks on New Year New Year’s Eve is not a thing so it’s kind of cool that yokohama’s kind of embracing more of like what the

Younger people want which is you know some because of I guess you know what they see on TV or what other countries do is fireworks and New Year’s Eve so it’s kind of interesting that yokahama is kind of leaning into the westernized version of New Year’s Eve whereas Tokyo

And specifically Shibuya is just like shunning foreigners culture so it’s interesting um I wonder if in the future they will eventually plan something for uh the Shibuya New Year’s Eve again like they did in 2019 which I unfortunately missed out on but uh you know preo you never would have thought that

It would been the last one but uh yeah anyway I think if they just cut out alcohol they can really make it like uh Time Square in New York where you know obviously they have a big event every year but as far as I hear there’s no uh rioting or trash

Everywhere so yeah they just need a plan it out and have it more organized and maybe one day it’ll be a great event like that but until then it’s uh no fun times just police yelling and um like ordering people around like cattle so uh unfortunately but yeah I I did like the

Yokohama which would be kind of weird and interesting Hawaiian says they did the Oklahom fireworks before Co oh I see so it’s always been that way then that’s interesting yeah in some ways I do feel like Yokohama is more westernized than Tokyo which kind of makes sense if you

Think about yokahama is a is a port town so I assume that in the old days when the when uh they were using ships to come in and out of Japan yokahama was probably the place where all the foreigners were because that’s like the port town obviously and they didn’t have airports

So that makes sense yeah oklahama is a pretty cool place I especially like going down to matato midai it just feels so spacious and Grand but still kind of small at the same time I don’t know this feels nice aotu says you got a curing machine to make your coffee very

Grandpa uh but it’s been a while since I watched that myself um but yeah that’s it staying home having some good food sashimi and soba soba noodles I went to the to the supermarket before uh well yesterday around lunch and uh yeah if you go to the supermarket on

New Year’s Eve in in Japan they close early so just be aware um but they have a lot of like party platters out and uh it’s for like big Sushi platters and uh a lot of soba noodles for people to make at home so yeah it’s more of like a quiet

Thing hey Miller thank you so much thanks for the unicorn um and the other thing is going to a shrine at midnight some people do that and uh they get their their good luck prayers in on the first day of the year uh the first minute and hour of the year

So yeah that is also a thing but uh today is more like what we’re doing as they do as well is go to the shrine or Temple where their to or Buddhist and just give a prayer and uh get their fortunes told um some of them have uh little good

Luck charms that they they wear throughout this the year um on their backpacks you may see or um maybe just on their wallets um but yeah you like every year typically they’ll buy new ones and then you there’s a place in the shrine or the

Temple where you can throw them in a box for the old ones and then they will burn them they have like a burning festival and a couple weeks from now so yeah people do that and uh yeah that’s just how they traditionally celebrate New Year’s from what I

Understand but you know with the influence of social media and you know even before social media just like Western media in general news or um movies things like that I think the younger generation is more influenced about around that and they are like wanting to do something more exciting

So who knows you know it can’t uh cultures evolve and change over time so whether or not they stick with that they’ve been doing or you know culture evolves to something new that’s like a hybrid of traditional and modern you never know so you know we will

That many people missed it but uh I was there it was crowded and uh honestly not so exciting but a lot of people were watching so uh I’m happy about that are you going to head to asakasa Temple yes I will I’m headed there right

Now so yeah other years I was on the train and so I would it’s pretty far you know like from where I live so uh I would actually take the train over there and then start the stream a little later and then you know walk back to the this

Side of town or take the train um so yeah this year I decided to start a little earlier but ride the bike instead so you guys are just seeing the commute to that side of town while I ramble on about random stuff wiia says must have been really

Short I missed it yeah it was really short dude it was like I I think it was even less than an hour maybe like 45 minutes it was maybe my shortest dream ever I didn’t even think about that till just now yeah yeah I’m a still a little tired

From my flight back into Tokyo I flew in the day before yesterday and uh the jet lag was starting to hit me at night but I powered through it thankfully and I made it to Shibuya just in time yeah I think yesterday during the stream uh I think it hit

Around 12,000 people watching at once uh but that was surprisingly after new year so maybe around 1 15 or so I’m guessing that’s when all the other streamers uh cut off their streams and maybe they came over but uh yeah it was good but uh I was already

Pretty tired so even though there was a lot of people watching I just cut it short and then uh went back home I think the most viewed stream we had was probably Halloween not this year but the year before uh there was like 31 or 32,000 people watching but that was

Because um unfortunately the whole etay Wan accident had just happened in Korea and I think people were just watching to see what happens in Japan so yeah the unfortunate like reality behind why that happened but uh yeah the 2023 goal was to find a mop

What’s the 2024 goal what do you want to do this year uh I don’t know I feel like we’ve explored most if not all of Tokyo already and there’s a lot of places that are a bit far to go by bike so this is a folding bike but it’s very

Heavy so I thought originally when I bought the this bike I thought oh wow it’s a folding bike so I’ll be able to take it everywhere with me we can go um to all these cool places on the train I’ll have my bike bag it’ll be

Great but the reality is it’s just too heavy and I don’t think I even took it on the train not even once so yeah so anyway I I was just thinking this today like recently the ebike feels like it’s been slower so I need to get it looked at but

I think if I want to do this like other biking streams and different places I need to buy just like a really tiny folding bike like a Brompton or some knockoff version that’s really really tiny and light uh it won’t be powerful and I can’t go very far but uh the whole

Point will be that we can go somewhere by train and then I can unfold the bike there and then we can go explore places a little bit further out on the edges of Tokyo or uh in the nearby areas um either that or my other goal

Possibility is to either get a car or to get a uh like a a scooter like a like a motorcycle basically because I do have my motorcycle license in Japan uh but I just haven’t used it so that’s like the I guess three different options one is very attainable which is

Like the small folding bike the other two are going to take a bit more work because I need to find place to park it and uh buying a vehicle is actually a bigger commitment so we will see I have to do some some thinking on

That uh I have some time off the next few days so while I’m filing all my taxes which is going to be uh not so fun cuz tax season in Japan is in February I’ll be thinking about that and seeing if I can allocate some budget for that and yeah seeing how it

That out but normally if you want to take your bicycle on the train you have to fold it up and uh or take the wheels off and put it in a bicycle bag uh the wheels of the bicycle can’t be rolled on the ground in the train or inside of the

Station for that matter so you have to like fold it up and carry it on your shoulder or you need to to get a more expensive bicycle bag that um has separate wheels from the bicycle wheels so yeah unfortunately it’s not as easy as in some Western countries where you

To think about a plan for switching over to some other type of content because you know I I love doing the live streams with you guys but I really want to be there for my kid um you know so you know on Sundays that’s my one of my days off

And I you know I started this channel when I was single and uh you know as a single guy doing live streams every Sunday has been totally fine uh with a girlfriend it was also pretty fine with a wife also fine but I think once the kid comes probably not fine so

Especially doing 4 to 4 to 8 Hour streams probably not okay so uh I will probably not be doing the recurring every Sunday 6 to 8 hours or 4 to 8 hours but um I don’t know we’ll see I haven’t really thought about it but
