This time, I will introduce Yokohama Chinatown, the largest Chinatown in East Asia.
This Chinatown, which has been around since around 1850, is now the cutting edge of Chinese cuisine in Japan.
This Chinatown has about 630 shops for general consumers, but if you watch this video,You can only know about good shops.

[This is what Yokohama Chinatown looks like these days]
・These shops sell a lot of dim sum that you can eat while walking around, such as xiao long bao, pork buns, and sesame dumplings.
・Product development is progressing, so there will be many new releases and limited-time dim sum.
・The next most common store after restaurants is general stores. In particular, there are many souvenirs with panda motifs.
・There are not many restrooms that can be used for free. When you really want to go to the toilet
Let’s buy products at cafes etc. and let them use them.

Yokohama Chinatown is filled with an exotic atmosphere that is rarely experienced in Japan. In addition, Yokohama Chinatown has a total of about 630 restaurants, miscellaneous goods stores, fortune telling shops, etc., so if you go without doing some research, you will get lost.

But don’t worry. This time, I will introduce restaurants and sightseeing spots in Yokohama Chinatown that serve particularly delicious food. I hope this video will be helpful for your trip to Yokohama Chinatown. Please give us a high rating and subscribe to the channel. Current location: Motomachi, Kanagawa, Japan.

To get to Yokohama Chinatown, I recommend going from Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Yokohama Minatomirai Line. There will be signs inside the station directing you to Chinatown, so follow them. When you go up that long escalator, you will come to the station ticket gate.

The underground passageway is lined with old footage of Yokohama Chinatown and photos of long-established stores. I look forward to introducing some of the stores shown here. Then, proceed towards the ground exit.

When you come out from underground to above ground, you will see a signboard like this, so head in the direction of “Chinatown.” When you see the bus “Red Shoes” running in Yokohama, you will find yourself arriving at Yokohama Chinatown. This gorgeous gate is Chaoyang Gate.

There are entrances to Yokohama Chinatown, one in the north, south, east and west, and Chaoyang Gate is the east entrance. This is connected to the general information center and the entrances of each street. It would be a good idea to explore Chinatown from here.

This is a general information center located right next to Chaoyang Gate. There is also a souvenir shop and cafe, so if you get lost, you can meet up here. Now, I will introduce 12 things in Yokohama Chinatown. There are many fun places to eat here as well as delicious food.

It is also lit up at night, making it look magical. Unexpected events also occur. The first store I will introduce is Wang Fu Jing, located near Chaoyang Gate. Wang Fu Jing sells grilled Xiao Long Bao, the most eaten dim sum in Yokohama Chinatown. You will be given a menu while waiting in line.

Some items are sold separately, while others are available as set items. I ordered Mixed Shon Jien Bao. It comes with 2 pieces each of 3 different types of grilled Xiao Long Bao, so it’s perfect for comparing tastes.

The right column is Masamune Xiao Long Bao. The seasoning is a basic flavor of minced pork mixed with Chinese soup. In the center is a Jade xiaolongbao. It has a light taste with spinach, chives, etc. kneaded into the dough and filling.

The left column is Fukahire Xiao Long Bao. Contains a small amount of high-quality shark fin. The surface of the Grilled Xiao Long Bao is baked to a crispy texture, so when you insert your chopsticks into it, you’ll hear a fragrant sound after some resistance.

The Xiao Long Bao contains heated soup and toppings. It’s delicious, but be careful not to burn yourself as it’s very hot. The next restaurant I will introduce is Kou Men, which mainly sells dim sum. Kou Men has a particularly good reputation for its Chinese sweets.

Freshly made products made in the shop’s workshop are displayed. This shop’s popular products are egg tarts and coconut tarts. If you have a small group, you can sit at the counter outside the store.

The egg tart is crispy on the outside and has a delicious aroma. In addition, the sweetness is modest, so it is rich but easy to eat. Coconut tart is one of the popular dim sum dishes in Hong Kong.

A lot of coconut fiber is kneaded into this sweet, and the aroma and coconut flavor match perfectly. A message card is pasted on the store counter every month. When you visit here, you can relax while eating seasonal sweets.

The dim sum here may sell out in the afternoon, so if you want to eat it, buy it in the morning. Next, I would like to introduce Yokohama Xiang Ji Pai main store.

Xiang Ji Pais are sold everywhere in Yokohama Chinatown, but this is the specialty store where you can find the most delicious one. There was a long line from the moment the store opened. The signboard in front of the store clearly displays the products that can be ordered.

The popular item is the Xiang Ji Pai(big fried chicken). When you order a product, you will receive a voucher. The food will be prepared after you order, so please wait about 10 minutes. The Xiang Ji Pai is ready. A table is provided to stand up the fried chicken for easy Instagram photos.

Please compare the palm of my hand with that of the Xiang Ji Pai . I have never seen fried chicken of this size. As for the taste, the dough and chicken breast have a strong Chinese flavor. It’s a little salty, so I think it goes well with beer, etc.

Due to the influence of this shop, other shops are copying the dish and selling fried chicken. Please come to this restaurant and enjoy the authentic taste. The next shop is Tei Un Cha Kura, where you can enjoy homemade boba milk tea.

Boba milk tea is a popular drink in Yokohama Chinatown, made by adding milk and tapioca to sweetly flavored oolong tea. Tei Un Cha Kura originally served authentic Taiwanese tea, and you can enjoy its deep flavor. There is a large menu listed on the sign in front of the store.

In addition to boba tea, there are various other drinks and desserts. There will also be a limited time dessert display. Currently, the menu and explanation of a traditional Taiwanese dessert called Douhua are posted.

The second floor of the store is a restaurant and rest area, and is large enough to seat about 10 people.(Only people who bought the product at the store can enter) There is a simple workshop where Taiwanese tea is processed, and if you are lucky you can even observe the tea making process.

Luckily I was able to secure a seat. The subtle bitterness of oolong tea, the sweetness of sugar, and the richness of milk make it very easy to drink. The tapioca that collects at the bottom of the container is sucked out using a special extra-thick straw.

Oolong tea leaves and tea utensils are sold on the first floor of the shop. Enjoy authentic Boba tea at Tei Un Cha Kura. Next,I will introduce Rou I Shin, which is famous for its panda buns. (The description section is a link to the main store, but the video introduces the second store.)

Pork buns are the most popular food when walking around Chinatown, and you can eat unique and delicious buns at this restaurant. You can buy panda-shaped buns here. There are also products shaped like pigs and lions.

In front of the cash register, photos of the buns are posted, and the flavor of each one is described. Buns are made one after another in a huge steamer. Everything is handmade and cute. It’s panda bun. The slightly dissatisfied look on his face is quite impressive.

The inside of the panda bun is chocolate cream. It is especially delicious with tea etc. Lion bun is also available as a separate product. The eyes and facial hair are carefully sculpted and vivid.

The contents of the lion bun is braised pork and cheese. The pork is cooked sweet and salty, and goes well with the rich cheese. It was insanely delicious. Rou I Shin was originally a general store, so there are a lot of different souvenirs on display inside the store.

The main store is located on Chinatown Boulevard, but it gets very crowded there, so you can buy products right away at this second store. The next restaurant I will introduce is Ko Sei Wa, a dim sum specialty restaurant.

Every item has a small amount of shark fin, a delicacy, so it feels a little more luxurious than other stores. A doll of the mascot character, a FUKAHIRE GUY, is displayed in front of the store. If you have time, please take a commemorative photo.

The specialty dish of this restaurant is the shark fin bun. However, the dish I will be ordering this time is not the shark fin bun, but the product introduced on this signboard. That is another famous dish, shark fin soup with charred rice.

This is probably the most delicious item among all the dim sum you can eat while walking around Yokohama Chinatown. Chinese soup is very delicious, with plenty of seafood flavor. It contains a lot of finely chopped pork, bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, etc.

And the fragrant rice is crispy and absorbs plenty of Chinese soup. The aroma and the flavor of the seafood match perfectly. By the way, the small transparent string-like thing at the bottom of this spoon is shark fin, a high-quality Chinese ingredient. The store also sells a variety of frozen Chinese dishes.

There are a variety of things to choose from, from salty foods that can be served as side dishes to desserts. You can take it home with you, or we can also deliver it to your home. The charred shark fin soup I just introduced is a must-try dish when you come to Yokohama Chinatown.

Walking through Yokohama Chinatown, you will be engulfed in a mysterious atmosphere. The atmosphere of the buildings, signboards, and banners are completely different from those in Japan. The colors are also brighter than those in Japan. It’s a fortune teller shop, but they also sell food. Anything goes.

I cut in a little and walk down the path. There are many shops lined up on such a small road. From here, I will introduce tourist spots in the chaotic Yokohama Chinatown. The first sightseeing spot I will introduce is Yokohama Yokohama Hakurankan(Expo Museum).

Yokohama Hakurankan is the largest souvenir shop in Yokohama Chinatown. There is also a rest area where you can relax and eat and drink. The stall at the entrance sells standard menu items to enjoy while walking. The first floor is a souvenir corner. Most of the standard souvenirs are available.

Baked sweets from famous Japanese confectionery shops and collaboration products with TV dramas are on display. All are sweet and delicious. In the back, Chinese souvenirs are sold. They have a variety of products such as tea, dim sum, shirts, and stuffed pandas.

Next time I will go to the second floor. There is an elevator so you can go up easily. “Lots of fun. Baby Star Land” The second floor is a dining space called Baby Star Land. Baby Star is one of the famous snacks in Japan, and is a salty dry noodle.

Here you can find limited edition products and a small baby star factory. Limited edition products from all over Japan are gathered here. (The flavors shown in the video are tonkotsu, wasabi, and ise udon)

There is a Baby Star factory in the back where you can observe the manufacturing process.(No photography was allowed inside the glass, so please enjoy the atmosphere.) And here you can eat freshly made baby stars. Normally, Baby Star is compressed into a square shape, but the noodles here are thicker and more filling.

The taste is quite salty and has the flavor of chicken consommé. It is familiar to children as a snack, but it is also popular as a snack with alcohol. I’m going to go up to the third floor. There is a terrace cafe on the third floor where you can relax and sit.

OMIKUJI(fortune slip) are sold at the top of the stairs. If you want to tell your fortune, give it a try. I entered the cafe on the third floor. The terrace cafe has a lot of greenery and is very liberating.

Today’s menu is posted in front of the cash register. In addition to cakes, coffee, and tea, they also sell local beer. I ordered Yokohama Blue Cider. Blue syrup accumulates at the bottom, creating a beautiful contrast between blue and transparency.

I want to keep looking at it, but I mix it to distribute the sweetness throughout. It’s an ordinary blue cider, but when you drink it here, it feels incredibly delicious. If you push past the desks and chairs on the terrace and go to the back, you will see a small open space.

Here you can tie bad OMIKUJI to a tree and pretend it never existed, or hit the gong of happiness. If you draw a OMIKUJI and get a bad result, tie it to the tree here like this. (Next, be careful about the volume) This gong has a different sound than Japanese bells.

I wish everyone who is watching this video the best of luck. From here, you can see a certain amount of Yokohama Chinatown. Find out where you want to go next from here. Yokohama Hakurankan is a convenient location when you arrive at Yokohama Chinatown.

If you want to buy souvenirs or just want to take a break, please stop by. The second tourist spot I will introduce is Yokohama Daisekai. This is a commercial complex with the Artrick Museum as its main attraction, as well as massage shops and souvenir shops. I arrived at the entrance of the building.

There is a large spiral staircase in the middle of the building that takes you up to the 4th floor. Go up the stairs to the 4th floor. To enter Artrick Museum, you need to go through the admission procedure at the reception desk on the 4th floor.

A price list is posted near the reception desk. Price for one adult (discounts available for children under 17 and under 11). After checking in, follow the staff. Ride the elevator with a panda on it and go up to the 8th floor.

The entrance to Artrick Museum is on the 8th floor. Information inside the facility is provided in Japanese and English. From here, proceed towards the exit on the 4th floor while experiencing various trick arts.

Photography is allowed inside the museum. If you see art that you like, take a photo to make it stand out. Here, there are many pieces of art that are slightly adapted from such masterpiece paintings. There is no metal bucket in the original.

Next to each piece of art is a photo example. In addition, shooting points that are likely to stand out are listed. Needless to say, the famous Mona Lisa has a cat sticking out of the picture frame and being held by her. At first glance, this painting looks like just a Western-style painting.

If you look closely, you can see various things such as skulls and crocodiles. I thought I found the stairs leading to the lower floor, but it turned out to be a detailed drawing. The real stairs are in front of the picture.

There are various art exhibits as you take the stairs to go to different floors. For example, in this painting titled “The Gardener,” the painting on the right depicts a bowl of vegetables.

The picture on the left is just an upside-down version of the picture on the right, but it looks like a fat man’s face. Just by changing your perspective, you can get a completely different picture.

When viewed with the naked eye, this painting with a large number of curved lines appears to be moving like ocean waves. If you look closely, you’ll see that it’s not moving at all, but when you relax, it’s constantly moving. This room is drawn with curved lines and holes and depressions.

It’s actually just a square room, but I can’t walk in a straight line, and my legs tremble in front of the picture of the hole. Artrick Museum is holding a limited-time collaboration event. When I visited, there was an event booth with the motif of the past hit girls’ manga “The Rose of Versailles.”

Here you can recreate famous scenes from “The Rose of Versailles.” The theme song is always playing in the room. If you change the angle, it will look flat. Here you can film the scene where the main character is held by Oscar. As you approach, Oscar’s arm becomes a bench where you can sit.

You won’t notice it from a distance. If you go through the Rose Room of Versailles and go to the lower floor, you will see a statue of an office worker. In fact, when viewed from the front, most of the body is blank.

This is a work that creates a silhouette even if there are no visible areas from the side. (It may be a meme that there is no content) There is a replica of Van Gogh’s self-portrait, but it looks a little angular.

As you get closer, you can see that Van Gogh’s paintings were assembled to represent his self-portrait. This is amazing! The last area also has a room and a space with tricks that use optical illusions to make adults and children appear at the same height. The most interesting thing was this trick hole.

I walk through a kaleidoscope, but I lose my sense of parallelism. I get a little drunk if I stay there for a long time, but I think it’s a pretty beautiful space. Once you’ve had your fill of Artrick Museum, it’s time to head outside. Once you take this exit, you will not be able to return.

Near the exit, you can take cosplay photos, get massages, and get fortune-telling. I think massages get crowded on holidays, so it might be a good idea to make a reservation in advance. The first floor is a rather large souvenir shop, so it’s a good idea to stop by on your way home.

The almond tofu flavored ice cream sold at the stall outside this souvenir shop is very delicious. Even if you don’t buy a souvenir, you should definitely try this ice cream. Have fun, be healed, and eat delicious food at Yokohama Daisekai. The third tourist spot I will introduce is Yokohama Kuan Ti Miao.

Kuan Ti Miao is a temple dedicated to the ancient Chinese military commander Guan Yu, who is known as Guan Sheng Di Jun. Guan Yu is famous not only for his strength but also as the god of business, as he made a profit from buying and selling salt.

This is the entrance to Kuan Ti Miao. In the center is the main temple of Kuan Ti Miao, and on the right is a shop. To enter the main temple, you must purchase 5 sticks of incense as part of your donation. Buy it at the store on the right.

Chinese incense sticks are much longer and thicker than Japanese incense sticks. (It’s also 10 times more expensive!) Now let’s go inside temple. This is the outer hall of Kuan Ti Miao. Many of the stones and decorations used in the building were imported from China and Taiwan.

There are incense burners with numbers written on them, so place incense sticks one by one into the incense burner in the order listed. Covering yourself with the smoke of the incense sticks you have offered seems to be common in all countries.

To enter the main temple, you need to show the person in charge the ticket with Guan Yu’s photo that is issued when you purchase incense sticks. Kuan Ti Miao tend to be built in large Chinatowns. Yokohama Kanteibyo is one of the largest in Japan, so if you’re in Chinatown and want to experience the solemn atmosphere of another country, come visit here. The fourth tourist spot I will introduce is China Square.

This is an amusement facility that mainly sells souvenirs, like the Yokohama Daisekai that I introduced earlier. It has a unique atmosphere, with a large Chinese-style signboard and overhead lanterns. This shop with a panda sign sells a lot of candy.

If you look to the side, you’ll see a lot of Chinese-style miscellaneous goods being sold. There are really many different products. The most notable point of this facility is that there is an aquarium inside the building. Take the elevator and go up to the 3rd floor.

When you get off the elevator, you will immediately see the aquarium sign. As you move forward, you will see an information panel and reception desk for this aquarium. Aquarium admission fee I will briefly introduce how to enter.

After entering, enter your date of birth and gender on the touch panel located at the entrance. The fortune telling results will then be displayed and the details will be printed out.

In detail, numbers are printed next to relationships with people, financial luck, auspicious colors, health, etc. Your fortune is written in the tank with that number. Of course, there is no problem if you look at other aquariums.

The inside of the facility is dimly lit, and there are small aquariums with numbers written all over them. Look for the aquarium with the number listed in the fortune-telling result earlier. In addition to the fish, there is also a sentence written inside the tank. This is fortune.

For example, my luck with money was the number 9, so I looked at the aquarium with the number 9 written on it. There were ranchu(kind of goldfish) in the aquarium. There is also a sign inside the aquarium that says, “Don’t look too high and be sure to go.”

By the way, other than fish, Ise lobster and (Background text: Let’s do our best until our backs bend) there were also moray eels. (Background text: She is caring without being too intrusive.) There were also many aquariums that had nothing to do with fortune-telling.

This aquarium expresses nature like a BONSAI(potted plant). In particular, the way the fog hangs is like a stream deep in the mountains. Although it is quite small compared to Sunshine Aquarium in Ikebukuro, there is also a large aquarium that looks quite impressive.

In addition, as you continue to admire the sea breams and sea anemones… You will arrive at the halfway point of this aquarium. The deepest part of the aquarium beyond this point is not connected to the exit, so come back here once you have enjoyed everything in the aquarium.

The theme of the second half of the aquarium is healing. It explains the fortune telling you saw earlier.

In China, it has been believed since ancient times that there is a principle of nature known as the Ten Dry Five Elements, and its explanation is written on the board. (Please pause if you want to read) There is a plaza inside, and there is an aquarium on the wall.

There are also comfortable sofas to sit on, so you can sit and enjoy the view. There is a slide in the center of the square, but this is also one of the aquariums. The bottom half of the slide is an aquarium. You don’t often see a sight like this.

In the aquarium in the plaza, seahorses, etc., which bring good luck, were displayed. The exit of the aquarium is connected to the fortune telling and Chinese tea corner. The fortune telling corner is popular among young women. There’s a huge line up.

Chinese tea is available in a wide range of products, from cheap to high-end. (And after ordering tea, I was given permission to take pictures. Thank you Auntie!) I ordered a hot oolong tea. Bitter tea soothes your body when you are tired. Since I was eating fatty foods, my stomach also felt refreshed.

There was an explanation about the tea, and it seemed like it was a precious tea grown in Mongolia. It was delicious, so I also ordered cold tea. I have never seen an aquarium with the concept of fortune-telling and healing. Please check it out if you are interested.

In Chinatown at night, the neon lights and lit lanterns give a surreal impression. As the bars begin to open, you can experience a different vibrancy than during the day.

Also, when you walk through Chinatown at night, you may encounter unexpected events. (The sound of gongs and firecrackers will ring out. Be careful of the volume!) It looks like a Chinese Lion Dance is being performed in front of the restaurant.

The Chinese Lion Dance is a traditional Chinese dance performed to ward off evil spirits and pray for a good harvest. It is often held during Chinese festivals, and it is said that the store where the lion dance is performed will bring good fortune.

Please enjoy the uncut version until the end of the Chinese Lion Dance. How was the Chinese Lion Dance? If you can encounter it, happiness will come to you too. Here we will introduce two particularly delicious restaurants in Yokohama Chinatown at night. If you are confused about dinner, please refer to this.

As you can see in the video, there are as many restaurants as there are in Yokohama Chinatown. I hope you find a store you like. The first store I will introduce is Toki. At this Chinese restaurant located in the narrow streets of Chinatown, you can enjoy authentic Chinese food from Shanxi Province.

All dishes are spicy and incredibly delicious. (Don’t worry, they also have delicious dishes with less spiciness) The specialty dish of this restaurant is the TOSHONEN(sword shaved noodle), which you can see on the signboard.

TOSHONEN are noodles with a special shape that are boiled by scraping off the edible portion directly from the dough, rather than cutting the dough into threads. It’s a popular store, so there’s often a line. While you’re waiting, you’ll be given a gorgeous menu, so let’s decide what dishes to order.

The left page has ramen and meat stir-fry using mutton. The right page has various types of sword-cut noodles. Everything looks irresistibly delicious. Also, TOSHOMEN have a unique texture. The inside of the shop is small and can only accommodate about 15 people.

Vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil, and SHICHIMI(Japanese Chili Pepper) are placed on the table.Change the flavor as you like. I ordered this restaurant’s signature dish, Beef TOSHOMEN. The Chinese soup, which combines the flavor of beef and the spiciness of chili peppers, goes perfectly with the sweet-salty simmered beef.

The noodles have a unique shape and are not uniform in thickness, giving them a strange texture. However, since it mixes well with the soup, you can enjoy the noodles with a very strong flavor. The beef at this restaurant is made from the ribs.

Even after boiling, the flavor of the fat is concentrated and it remains juicy. Be sure to eat the noodles and meat together for the first bite. You can experience the best Chinese noodle dishes. If you want to taste the best and exciting Chinese noodles, go to Toki.

The second store I will introduce is ATHENS. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy Greek cuisine, Mediterranean drinks, and whiskey. The appearance of the store is impressive. It looks like a Greek temple has been cut out here. At the entrance, photos of the Greek dishes currently available are posted.

I was taken to my seat. The tables and walls are decorated with aged wooden furniture. The coasters are also unique to the store, and you can feel the care that goes into each one. Inside the shop, there are murals depicting Greek mythology and a variety of distilled spirits.

Most distilled spirits are whiskey, but Ouzo, a Greek distilled spirit, is also available. I want to feel refreshed after eating too much Chinese food, so I have a Greek beer, FIX HELLAS. I can’t get enough of pouring beer into a glass. Thank you for your hard work today.

The beer pouring method is also perfect. The taste of the beer is smooth and easy to drink, and it goes well with the fish and vegetables that are common in Greek cuisine.(You may get angry, but it looks like Heineken)

I ordered feta cheese as a snack. Feta cheese is a raw cheese made from goat’s milk. It has a strong salty taste, so it’s delicious to eat as is, but it goes well with salads. There are crackers on display. You’ll understand later, right?

Salty cheese, bland crackers, and beer. Why is it so simple yet so delicious? Next, I ordered Saganaki. Saganaki is a classic Greek dish made with cheese grilled in oil. However, the saganaki here has a delicious twist.

Beneath the thick layer of cheese is spicy minced meat. It’s kind of lasagna-like, and it’s really delicious. It’s bigger than I expected, so it’s filling. Because it is rich, it goes well with light beer. Thank you for the meal ! Prices for eating and drinking at this restaurant

I think one of the great options is to enjoy Greek cuisine from a 30-year-old restaurant in Chinatown. How was the introduction of 12 things in Yokohama Chinatown? There are many shops in Yokohama Chinatown, so I will continue to introduce new trends and innovative shops as they emerge.

Just wandering down the street at night like this makes me feel happy. I hope this video helps you on your trip to Yokohama Chinatown. If you give us a high rating and subscribe to our channel, it will encourage us in the future. Thank you for watching the video. Have a nice Trip!
