This time, we will take a train called “Hiei” of Eizan Electric Railway in Kyoto It is an interesting train with a distinctive shape. I will go to the World Heritage Site of Enryakuji Temple on Mt. Hiei. The cable car and ropeway are also interesting, so please watch the video to the end!
Demachiyanagi Station, Kyoto. I will enter the ticket gate. The train is stopping early. There are Christmas decorations. And the station is decorated in a Japanese style, just like in Kyoto. There is some kind of animation character. And there are many gacha-gacha (toy machines).
The train we are going to take this time is in the distance. It is an unusual train with an oval face. I got on the train and found a sophisticated interior. The windows are also oval, and the green and yellow colors are in harmony. The door windows are also oval.
It is very beautiful! Now, let’s get on the train. The train passes through a residential area. The view from the oval window is very nice. The train is a one-man train, so it is easy to see the windows from the back.
And the other stations are also Japanese style, probably because it is Kyoto. You can see mountains behind. And a big train yard. This is where we part ways with the train for Kibune-Kurama. The train is getting closer to the mountains and the end of the line is getting closer.
I get off the train. Here is the cable car. From the outside, it looks strange. The oval-shaped windows are beautiful even from the outside. Then, we walked a little to the cable car. I arrived at the cable car station. This station also brings a “Japanese” feeling. Let’s go in.
And this is the cable car we are going to ride. The color of the cable car is the same as that of the train I just mentioned, only without the oval. And then, it’s time to go. We are going up a very steep slope.
We are going uphill in a natural area surrounded by trees. As you climb up, you can look out over the city of Kyoto. And you are approaching the end of the line. Then you change to the ropeway. This too has the same design as the cable car.
And then it starts to swing and sway. We are coming up quite high. By the way, it is very crowded inside the ropeway. The ropeway on the opposite side passes by. Then, the ropeway is over and we take a bus to the East Pagoda of Enryaku-ji Temple.
And here is the bus stop. From the bus, you can see the biggest lake in Japan, Lake Biwa. And this bus meanders around. Then we get off the bus and walk to the East Pagoda of Enryaku-ji Temple. And then we arrived at Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt.Hiei.
This temple is registered as a World Heritage site. After seeing the temple, we had Mitarashi dango and hojicha (roasted green tea). Very tasty! Enryakuji Temple has three towers: the East Pagoda, the West Pagoda, and Yokogawa, but it would take about 6 hours to visit all of them.
From here, we took the cable car to return home. Please give us a high rating and subscribe to our channel.
