What’s going on everybody this is Island Hopper TV and today we’re talking about things to know when visiting Tokyo Japan let’s do [Applause] It First thing is let’s talk about Transportation so they have the Tokyo Metro which is a subway system connected with buses you can get a Tokyo pass called passo that’s what I recommend you get when you arrive here you can actually use it uh at all machines Tokyo

Is one of the largest cities in the world world but if you just include the city of Tokyo that’s around 10 million we’re talking Tokyo Metro over 37 million now when it comes to places to stay while in Tokyo these are the places I’m going to recommend take a look at

Shinjuku if you like nightlife if you’re a young person you like nlife if you like the luxury lifestyle take a look at ginsa that’s where I’m at right now also if you want shopping and just kind of in between go to rongi Hills if you want

Just all around Tokyo Vibes then go to shabuya and if you want museums and culture stay in weno UE n o now here we are at the shabuya Crossing also known as the shabuya scramble let’s go explore here I think it’s one of the busiest Crossings in the world definitely the

Busiest crossing here in Tokyo and Tokyo is the largest city in the world to go figure so where I’m going now is toward W haruku but I’m going to be going to the mezi temple here some good ramen now let’s talk about currency and transactions here in Japan so 149 Yen equals

$1 okay so when you pull out 30,000 yen that’s about $210 credit cards are widely accepted Visa American Express I haven’t really had a problem with that not in taxis or anything like that so that’s good news right and getting the pasmo card you can sometimes use that so really easy to

Transact here in Japan also the ATMs work really good all right so here we are going through the mag Forest to the shrine looks like wood but it’s not it looks like a steel column yeah who walks in the middle on the Pebbles like that me wow it’s amazing how this Forest

Literally exists inside of Tokyo all around here is the city and then right in here it’s like this Lush Japanese Forest so over here you have barrels of Saki and then over here you have wine in barrels cool so the other Arch was not wood but this one is believe that’s real wood

Yeah it’s quite the little hike to get in here here you have a purification Fountain to wash your hands and your mouth going there so once you’ve purified your hands and your mouths you can go inside I don’t think it’s mandatory but it’s considered respectful to

Do all right we’ve made it to the shrine and now here we are in Harajuku at takash Street let’s go for a little cruise down here and see what’s going on capsule toy shop what is that lots of crepes It’s like a costume shop or what Spee coca pearls coming up to C SOI Shrine but this here is like a market area that’s a restaurants I believe this is called Kamina aramon c aramon yeah this is Kamina aroman Cina Ramon gate hey for how much you can really say right now other than it is crowded it’s okay and

You can see a group so I know what is going on over here And right here we have a bridge that goes across the river taking you from the shrine s soji Shrine all the way to the sky tree and right here you have this boat Up and Down the River here get some views so let me show you the average

Room here in Tokyo for about $150 a night this is the OPA hotels I’ve stayed at two of these different hotels chains you can see it is fairly small I actually had to check in early so I did an advanced registration and they charged me 2,000 Yen extra that’s around

1,000 yen per hour because I checked in at 1 check out time at the other Hotel was 10:00 a.m. you can see the bed is nice but it’s very small in here you actually turn on and off the lights with this kind of switch you like these switches by your bed

So and then you get like a robe and everything but very small very compact it works but it’s expensive and the rules are very strict about check out at 10: a.m. which is fairly early in my opinion as well as a uh check-in time that has to

Be 3:00 or later look at the bathtub is very small all right here we are at the Shinjuku gyon Garden area gon I believe is G Garden it’s a national park here actually so it’s 500 yen for adults not too bad it’s a good price we’re in another very peaceful place inside

Tokyo people are just picnicking enjoying the fall weather here we are in Shinjuku right here here in front of Don kot going to go inside here I think it’s a souvenir Market multilevel anime video games Pikachu Pokemon Mario Brothers salot Alleyways and intricate Pathways around here oh

Sorry I would also say that if there was ever an area of Tokyo you have to watch out for scamming this is it quite a bit of scams going on around here it’s usually if someone’s soliciting something from you most of the time the businesses you they don’t

Need to solicit but the people who are coming up to you asking you if need something that’s who you need to watch out for just tell them no guess they like scamming everyone it’s not just tourist people in the comments can tell you what the scam is here but there’s a

Few different ones e cyber Cafe okay so this is the golden guy hello just a bunch of hole in the wall bars oh my goodness the alad in the back app you going to you to Oh jumbo waser those jumbo oers are really hard to eat sorry sorry sorry now here we are at the main deck there’s actually a place that’s higher than this like double the height still pretty high up here it only cost $9 to come up here to

The main deck if you want to go to the main deck and the top deck I think that costs around 28 for 3,000 yen this was 1,200 yen so you go down the stairs there’s another level Observatory so all right walking up to the zoo G Temple looks like they’re burning something

Right there smells almost like a wood maple and here we are at the Tokyo Imperial Palace and here we are at the palace but you can’t go up in there yet I don’t know how you can go in there beautifully manicured though Palace is actually right up there you can kind of see

It you know there’s so many different buildings here we don’t really know which one’s the Imperial Palace but it’s somewhere tucked away and all the gates so far that I’ve seen are closed I me it’s cool to see the old Palace and take pictures but if you

Can’t really go inside I don’t know it’s worth it so you may want to book a a tour when you get here oh Palace Hotel that’s a prime time location they got this just a prime time Hotel got this moat here we are at the National Art Center of

Tokyo it’s actually free unless you want to do the main exhibit which cost a little extra but the mission is free really impressive art in here okay now we’re in rungi station right across the street from rungi hills that’s where we’re headed next rungi Hills North Tower here all right rongi

Hills let’s go up here and check it out yeah up here you have the rongi Hills Club which is like an academic Hills and you have the mor art center and gallery here see uh I think this place is called K Kaka oh Louis Vuitton Rolex high end stuff over here

Runy would you ever pay $5,000 for a handbag or $400 for a shirt or $1,000 for shoes I guess if I had that much money it wouldn’t matter so we’re in search of some nighlife here in rungi that’s what they say online that this is one of the nightlife hotpots along with Shinjuku

Shabuya Ginza I don’t see any pubs or anything so not going to say that’s what’s going on around here but maybe there is because why would they say it’s happening if it wasn’t so I’ll keep walking and exploring okay so here we are in Ginza considered the ritziest area of Tokyo spe

I would for G over or pungi for a location e how skinny the buildings are it’s like you get one little pars land for super expensive price and you can build up I what could they possibly have going on in there bottom level is the department store but then what what’s

Going on up above it’s not a hotel it’s like office based so I’ve come into this book Tower called the shows and book Tower it’s in aibara it’s like levels upon levels of books and uh now I’m going to go down and show you I’m not even at the top by

The way I can still keep going but I’m on the third R the third floor here I’m coming to the second floor and it just goes up and up and it’s just books upon books of literature Japanese pretty cool something to see okay we’ve arrived in Akihabara this is electric

Town we’re going to go inside here and see what’s going on but let me just show you how big the building is lots of electronics ooh PlayStation well if you need some batteries how they get so much alkaline or lithium whatever is in those batteries this is the second level by the

Way yes over here is animante Akihabara you can see lots of anime over both sides of the road py pchi what is this taito station you can walk out of here with one of these if you get the claw on it what’s going on down Here now we’re here in weno at the Lotus Pond Lotus Ponds that is a lot of lotus I’ve never seen so many imagine with the winter coming they’re going to die there’s a lot of lotus W knows Zoo here we’re going to go inside it looks like it’s uh 600 Yen that’s not a bad price I think that’s around $5 I can swing

That all right after a bit of a walk we finally arrived where the animal enclosures are Fore And here we are now at the Tokyo National Museum I’m going to get a ticket here looks all right Tokyo National Museum the ticket was 1,000 yen which comes out to around like seven or eight bucks think we have a few museums around here full body Samurai magical place this is the archaeological side got some tombs in here and here we are at the National Museum of Natural Science take all right so see how much this is going to cost have to go inside to get the ticket no flash photography 630 y this is a famous

Samurai statue saigo takamori there’s his dog it looks like a Shibu Shibu Inu all right let’s go down there now and see what’s going on with the shopping street so now we’re coming up to amoko shopping district okay hey literally like right below the

Trains which way do I go which way do I go two different ways to go say you can get some cheap souvenirs down here all Japan brand luggage so I’m going through the mall here to change directions on the road and see what’s over here same thing just different Road same same

Stuff a little bit closer to the train it’s a good place thank you everyone for watching Island Hopper TV if you enjoyed this one please consider watching another one of our videos we have a recommended video and another video for you to watch next
