Flying Dinosaur at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is the world’s best flying coaster. This Bolliger & Mabillard flyer is a record-breaker- it has the tallest drop, fastest speed, and most inversions of any flying roller coaster. The ride also has some incredible elements like the fly to lie and pretzel loop. Find out my thoughts on this coaster in this review!

  1. Did you just go on a coaster world-tour and then decide to buckle down on your YouTube channel? You upload like crazy man lol

  2. I got to ride this baby in 2019, in the Back seat, and I had NO IDEA of what I was getting myself into. Ive Been on Manta, Tatsu and the superman clones, but none of them hold a candle to this one! The way you get whipped in that back seat, I had no idea of what was up or down, and that pretzel loop with the airtime pop going into it was INTENSE. Literally Element after Element after Element! Incredible ride, its in my top 10 coaster list as my #3.

  3. Supposedly it ties with Everest at Disney as the world's most expensive roller coaster to build. With Flying Dinosaur they had to design it with the land available and footers that avoid other attractions. Tatsu is barely my 4th favourite coaster at SFMM if not my 5ht, 6th, or 7th (The pretzel loop is insane in every row, but the back is the best overall) but in any case I'm sure Flying Dinosaur is better than Tatsu.

  4. this maybe the only coaster I have ridden that u do a review on
and it is the only flying coaster i have ridden ( hope i dont get disappointed when i ride others)

flying dino is my fav coaster right now
cause i got airtime on front rows

  5. One of my top bucket list coasters – looks amazing! Flying Dinosaur and Starry Sky Ripper definitely look like the 2 best flying coasters.

  6. This ride sounds so amazing! Your detailed descriptions of each element of the ride has me wanting to ride this even more now. I am more critical of B&M than most people are, but this one has the potential to be my overall favorite from them.

  7. Also, a third reason for the slow dispatches is because of the block setup and the amount of trains Universal Studios Japan puts on the ride, and ElToroRyan explains that in his video on the ride. Unlike most newer B&M coasters that have a "mid-course" block at the end of the ride, The Flying Dinosaur doesn't have this design language like Leviathan, Fury 325, Banshee, Candymonium, and Orion, where the extra brake zone is a safety precaution so a train can stop here if needed, and that the train on the lift can drop off faster. As a result, the service block, which is the final brake run after the inline twist, is not long enough to hold a second train, and only holds one train, so in order for a brake zone in between where a train stops before the station to be present, B&M allowed the transfer track to be a separate block zone, instead of being programmed with the service block. Since the service block only holds one train, that means the train on the lift always crawls upwards until that train clears the service block. Also, unlike a lot of B&M flying coasters, where the trains are usually parked on opposite sides of the station once you finish the ride, The Flying Dinosaur has two trains dedicated for the left side, and two trains for the right side, so trains can't always park on the opposite side. The station also plays into that since you're not entering the train from the outside, but on the inside. But the park never runs all four trains, and so stacking can be weird, since the programming of where the trains park in the station can cause holdups in the service and transfer blocks and slow down operations.

  8. I can understand why it gets such a hugeeeeeeee line. You also just have to understand the culture differences, since Japanese people tend to be more patient and are more organized. There's no such thing as rushing in Japan, and so those in North America, just take into consideration the differences in culture while waiting in this line.

  9. I rode it years ago when it first opened and going to Osaka tomorrow. Curios to try it again.

All I remember is that the ride is INTENSE and you can barely catch your breath 😅

  10. This would be cool at Islands of adventure but manta is only 20 minutes away so I see why they didnt make flying dinosaur but I'm glad we got velococoaster. Still I hope we get this coaster in the lost continent at Islands of adventure with the zelda ride if it's getting one.

  11. It's easy to see this is the world's best flyer, and I've never even ridden it. I can never understand some comments I see like "Manta is more intense or scarier than this" LOL.. Manta is like a family coaster in comparison.. This is clearly the most intense flyer, period.

  12. Whats your stand an laying on your back in a flying coaster counts as an inversion? To me the dive into a brezel loop counts as one.
