We visited the Amtrak Station in Fort Edward, NY and will take on a quick tour of the platform, the old building, and both parking areas. There was even a bicycle shop and a coffee food truck! Have you ever passed thru this station?

  1. Love the train station tours! I have never been on a train before but it would be a fun way to travel someday! Love that this is on the national register of historic places. Too bad no indoor seating on those chilly rainy days. Cute, historic station, thanks for sharing with us! 😊

  2. Cute little Amyrak Station. Those small stations are not even staffed always or open only when train comes.

  3. Never passed though but have seen some stations just out in the open. But, they at least had a few benches with an overhang you could get under. Similar to this but without the building which is nice to see from the outside. Shame you can't go in.

  4. Next time you're in the area, feel free to stop in.

In response to your wondering how often the train comes through, the Adirondack comes through in the afternoon heading north from NYC. The Ethan Allen Express comes through not long after heading south from Burlington. In the evening around 6pm, the Adirondack comes back through heading south, and the Ethan Allen Express comes through not long after heading back north.

While there is not currently a waiting area in the station, an external enclosed waiting room is in the planning stages.

The diner you were referring to was probably Ye Old Fort Diner. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is a tavern next door, Dalia's on the Hudson, that opens in the afternoon and stays open late. There is another diner just around the corner, Mamma's Cafe, that is open for breakfast and lunch. We also have a pizza shop (Stumpy's Pizzeria) and a brewery (Slickfin Brewing). In addition the the coffee truck (fiend coffeeworks) that is usually with us on the weekends during the summer, there is also a taco truck in the village, and they are opening a take-out location this month. We also have a farmer's market just down the street at the Canal Street Marketplace on Thursdays during the summer.
