Great video Amy. Planning a solo trip to Tokyo in September. All your videos are going to be so useful. Thanks
Hi cakes with faces you are the best!!!!!
The ONLY downside to my trip to Tokyo – all other sushi now tastes like 💩!!
Thank you so much for the list on your website! Will probably use it a lot, must have been a lot of work 🙂
Something I need to comment on it though, I think the kimchi in Yoshinoya might not be vegetarian, since a lot of kimchi recipes use oyster or fish sauce…might be wrong, but I would be scared to try it!
I'm hungry now 🤤
Another tip you forgot, after finishing your meal and before you leave, sometimes it's good to say thank you in Japanese to The restaurant owners.or small village cafes.
I LOVE this series, really practical advice/recommendations and it's jam-packed with info. Thanks. 🙂
I didn't know about the "not eating on the street" part. I wonder if i did that and didn't realize.
I always look forward to your Japanese videos. They’ve been a massive help in planning my first trip there next month. Can’t wait to see what you guys get up to the next time you go!
Awesome video and obviously very useful for anyone going to Japan thumbs up
Another fantastic video. 😁
Hi, just like to thank you for all your tips, been watching them all for the last few months. Just got back a couple of days ago and your advice was really helpful and you really made things a lot easier for the 3 of us, so thanks again.
Thank you for your videos, they are so helpful. I'm bad with my Japanese at the moment but I'm starting lessons in October. I am planning on a solo trip to Japan but I am actually a little afraid of going it alone as it's my first trip. Anyone want to come with me? Lol 😁
Love your vids and we were looking forward to 8:17, the shout out to Fanta Grape!! If it was in a can as opposed to a resealable bottle, is it ok to walk around with an open can?
You are my guide if I ever make it to Japan someday. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to make these information filled videos. For someone who wants to visit Japan it’s really helpful. The problem is watching these videos makes me want to go even more. The struggle is real.
i`m going to Japan this August from the UK
Very nice video 🙂 Thanks
Lucky, you have the voice of a TV anchor.
THANK YOU… such a helpful video. I have noted the few Japanese words to learn before I go in 11 days…. So excited, as you can imagine!! I'm off now to explore your other videos as I really do find them very informative and very helpful since I will be travelling with a vegetarian.. Cheers from an Aussie fan 🙂
I expected that on my first trip to Japan I'd go hungry. I'd never really had Japanese food (except from Sushi bar here in Australia).
The food is amazing! Where else in the world do they use pikelets for ice cream cones?
Good video! You are spot on. One thing we found hard to come by is vegetables and fruits. Also drinking and eating on the streets made us really frustrated over time. Yes I agree be discreet but also eat and walk if your hungry. Don’t be afraid to grab a coffee and drink it on the way to the next train station or next stop. They will give u a to go cup anyways.. No one cares. I stressed about that way to much. Just know that you may not find a garage can for a bit.
The quality of all the food we had was better than anything I’ve had anywhere else with the exception of Mexican food. On two trips to Tokyo we tried Mexican restaurants twice, and they just don’t get it. The flavors were strange and it wasn’t anything you’d recognize as Mexican food. I’d say don’t even try it. 😂
ONIGIRI ROULETTE
Wow I just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching like crazy! Thank you so so so much for all of these amazing tips! My husband and I are planning our anniversary trip to Tokyo, disneysea, and Hakone and these videos are so helpful!
You are amazing at explaining and showing everything you need to know, thank you!
These videos are really helpful! I’ve been watching them over and over in preparation for my first trip in April! 😀
Great video with very important info.
I'm from Japan. The most important type of food you didn't mention is the home made food or the traditional set meal, which consists of Rice, Miso soup, main portion(fish, meat or egg etc) and vegies. This set meal is often called " Teishoku ". We have famous Teishoku restaurants like Yayoi or Ootoya with one set menu of 7 Euro or 10 dollar.
And you can also eat Japanese home made food at izakaya, which is Japanese eat and drink bar. At izakaya you can eat varieties of Japanese foods and the quality of foods is almost guaranteed. The prise of food at izakaya is a bit more expensive than Teishoku restaurants.
Our first night in Japan we went to the Family Mart in our hotel because it was late and the food was decently good and very affordable. I especially loved their banana water!
Hallo ,I love your video .
What's your favorite japanese foods ?
Please, comeback to Japan.
And have fun !
um,… I think the Mexican and Indian food are limited and mediocre at best,… strangely enough the curry in Disneyland, pork bun in Yokohama's Chinatown and Japanese adapted Chinese food in Kamata are the most yummy! … bless you for not mentioning kusaya (^_^) … ア! some of the major department stores will have food stores in the basement.
I like the idea of random treats it’s more fun and it’s more adventurous.
OMG I love to try food.
GReat videos. Informative and nice to look at..!
How can you tell if drinks are sugar free. I’m diabetic and can’t drink sweet or sugary drinks
I have dreamt of going to Japan all my life and finally booked my trip to go last October (until covid ruined my plans!) I'll get there sometime.
I can't wait to try proper Japanese ramen. I don't have an allergy, but I really can't stand onion. Do you know if its OK to request no onion in a meal?
You mention not eating in the street but what about parks? Is picnicking ok?
