Things You Should Know Before You Visit Mt. Fuji

I made this video to help people determine when is the best time (of year) for them to visit Mt. Fuji. Being that this volcano is one of Japan’s biggest tourist attractions, I felt it was important to temper expectations, so that people know what to expect. Mount Fuji is Japan’s tallest mountain / volcano at 3,776m. It is a beautiful sight to behold and even that is an understatement, but it does come with a few “things” or “inconveniences” that I think people should be aware of – mostly because Fuji is part of nature and nature is largely unpredictable. All that to say, I love Mt. Fuji, the five lakes, Yamanashi prefecture, Shizuoka prefecture, Fujisan Herb Garden and all of the amazing things around Fuji – that make it such an amazing place to visit. Fun fact about Mount Fuji – Women were forbidden from climbing the mountain until 1872. One of the main reasons was that women, especially beautiful ones, may make Konohana-sakuya-hime angry and cause Mt Fuji to erupt.
